Нашла такое вот мнение: "You also omit the fact that most of these graduates will be graduates of the former polytechnics; fine institutions of learning they may be, they've had to work hard to be accepted as universities. That is why there are so many "university graduates" chasing graduate jobs, because they've now got a university degree in subjects like dancing or drama.

Just like to browse this site every now and then.

As a graduate of St Andrews and a teacher at a 'former polytechnic'. It is disappointing to hear such opinions of our educational provision (are dancing and drama really all that ex-polys do?). Before I got my job, I was of a similar opinion to you that former polys were of a lower class. For your information I lecture mathematics and our department was listed higher than many red-brick institutions in the recent guardian education survey. The only difference between ex-polys and red-bricks for undergrads in the amount of prejudice they receive upon applying for jobs, it seems that where you go to university is much more important than what you actually achieve whilst you are there. We have a long way to go before our higher education system can be inclusive - creating a capitalist market does not help things. "

А какую ты заметил разницу? В ex-Polys легче поступить, но потом сложнее найти работу, так?
